Alternative methods for cooking microwave popcorn (idea)

This method will only give you a nice OOBE if you use popcorn that doesn't sell itself as "lite". You will need the high-fat stuff unless you want to cheat and add canola oil or butter. Simply

• Empty the bag into a large pot (one that would hold about 6-8 cups of water).
• Put the stove element or burner on low and allow the fat to melt first.
• PhysicsChic reminded me to tell you to put the lid on the pot, unless you want a popcorn attack
• Then crank it up somewhere between medium and almost-high and let the popping commence! Make sure you jiggle the pot around, as this lets the unpopped kernels settle to the bottom of the pan and prevents the popped ones from scorching or burning

Be warned, popping times will definately vary: A gas range takes about 2 minutes, and electric takes about 3. Few ranges have shutoff timers, so watch it!.

Note: I plan to someday add information about using ovens, blowtorches or cats with buttered toast but have yet to conduct any research. Perhaps you might add your own?
