Amherst College is part of the five college consortium, along with Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College and The University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Amherst College was founded in 1821. Their president is Tom Gerty. Their motto is Terras Irradient ("Let them give light to the world"), and their school colors are purple and white. Their campus is 1000 acres. As of 6/30/00 the college had an endowment of $912,000,000.
