A mostly-rural region in the Massif Central of central France. Known for its volcanoes, hot springs, and tire production. Notable as the seat of Vercingetorix who opposed the Roman Empire's occupation of Gaul, and the beautiful Auvergne Volcano Park.

Principal towns are Clermont-Ferrand (the capital, and home of an enormous Michelin tire factory), and Vichy (known for its spa and as the seat of government of collaborationist France (or Vichy France) during World War II).
