Lincoln Bicentennial Commission Endorses Children's Song

The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission has endorsed Boston-based-singer-songwriter Greg Cherone's patriotic Children's song
"A Man Named Abraham Lincoln."

Released in January 2006, in anticipation of Lincoln's birthday, the song is intended to inspire children and adults to learn more about the 16th president. All profits are donated to F.A.M.E. (Foundation for the Advancement of Malden Education), a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to Malden Public Schools in Massachusetts.

The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission was established by Congress to plan a "fitting and proper" national celebration of the 16th president's 200th birthday in 2009. Its members, appointed by the president and congressional leaders, include political leaders, jurists,
historians, and collectors. The ALBC aims to renew Americans' appreciation of Lincoln's ideals of freedom, democracy and equal opportunity,
and to encourage all people to "live the legacy." For more information, go to < a href="http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=lincoln200.gov>www.lincoln200.gov

A Man Named Abraham Lincoln

It's a great American story
Where the humble meets the glory
I'm not the only one who will be tellin' you
The crowds and all the speeches
The goodwill that he teaches
Here is where the world might learn a thing or two
There was a man named Abraham Lincoln
The stuff I've learned has got me thinkin'
Who was this man named Abraham Lincoln
Who was this man who took a stand
Our country, he decided
Could not be divided
But the north and south did clash into a civil war
He wrote a proclamation that helped preserve our nation
Make right what had been wrong for so many years
Once lived a man named Abraham Lincoln
The stuff I've learned has got me thinkin'
Who was this man named Abraham Lincoln
Who was this man who took a stand
Who was this man who took a stand
He belongs to the Ages
To History's pages
To a land of hope and liberty
Remember those who gave their lives
Gave their lives for you and me
Those who gave their lives for you and me
