Occurred on 10/26/97 in Philadelphia, PA.

Put off by the sexism of the Million Man March in 1995, a group of African American women organized another march to show solidarity on the Ben Franklin Parkway.

Although it did not receive the press coverage of the MMM, the event drew a sizable crowd of women, children, and men. The exact number is apparently hard to come by with some estimates claiming over a million participants and other cutting that figure by as much as half. Keynote speakers included Winnie Mandela, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and rapper/activist Sister Souljah.

Despite the turnout, organizers lacked a concrete outward political agenda and had no organization plans to incite the crowd to community action.
