There was an article in an issue of Chemistry in Britain (can't recall which one) on just such uses. Blew my mind at the time I'll have you know.

The rate of polymer degradation closely approximates the rate of epithelialisation for simple cuts, which is useful (though biodegradable sutures are not unknown). Further, the use of cyanoacrylates in tropical climes reduces the risk of infection as compared to sutures.

And may I just say, in all honesty, that the luscious warmth as my fingers stuck together, in sweet synergy with that heady musk, made model-building all the more...fulfulling for me as a child.
