40 Days and 40 Nights (idea)

The biblical summation of "enough time." Through the bible, there are multiple references to the number forty. Some examples of this are:

• Noah was on the ark for forty days.
• Moses was forty when he went to Egypt to rescue the Israelites.
• Moses was "close to God" for forty days before recieving the Ten Commandments.
• Moses and the Israelites wandered the desert for forty years before arriving in the promised land.
• Jesus meandered in the wilderness for forty days after being baptized by his cousin, John the Baptist.
• Lent is forty days long.

None of these(save Lent) were actually forty exactly, but as time was difficult to estimate, forty became the standard amount of time for everything.
