Dennis Keith Lillee (1949- ) became the greatest
wicket-taker in Test
cricket. An
aggressive fast
bowler with a superb action, he began his
career with
Western Australia in 1969-70, and made his Test
debut the following season. He took a record 31 Test wickets for Australia on the tour of England in 1972, and in harness with Jeff Thomson in 1974-5 demolished England with his speed and penetration. In 1981-2 he passed Lance Gibbs' record aggregate of Test wickets of 309, and by the time he retired in early 1984, he had taken a total of 355 test wickets.
