Born June 7, 1972 in New Zealand, Karl Urban is an actor best known for his role of Éomer in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He reportedly earned a $400,000 bonus for his work in these two movies.

Also noteworthy, Urban played Caeser on Xena: Warrior Princess, Kirill in The Bourne Supremacy, Bones (or Dr. McCoy) in the 2009 movie Star Trek, and many other significant roles in blockbuster films.

Urban attended Victoria University for one year in his home land of New Zealand before deciding to leave to pursue an acting career. His hobbies include fishing, surfing, golfing, gardening, and indoor rock climbing. He has one son, Hunter, with his partner Natalie. He is good friends with former co-stars Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn in Lord of the Rings) and Renée O'Connor from Xena: Warrior Princess.

He has also done theatre productions and TV advertisements.
