A May 2000 survey by MetaGroup found the following statistics concerning incentives for the IT professional:

  • Companies that provide tuition reimbursement: 93%

  • Companies that have sign-on bonuses: 65%

  • Companies that give stock options: 44%

  • Companies that give project bonuses: 44%

  • Companies that give overtime pay: 30%

  • Companies that provide health club memberships: 30%

  • Companies that provide day care reimbursements: 15%

    Most IT professionals are now looking at IPO stock options with a lot of skepticism. Too many Dot Coms went belly-up, leaving those that signed on with worthless promises.
