We never saw that special starlight.
Gamma radiation in waves coming
from the motherly spiral arms
that one time generated life.

Most were dead unknowing
what killed them before
the wave traveled from their
starward glance to their feet.

The few that live through luck or
fate wander aimless, as we
don't dig our graves anymore.
We are part of the landscape.

Alone, adrift, a lone voyager
carries with it the sounds
and sights of things that
are historic, without a future.
