James Harris was the
presidential candidate for the
Socialist Workers Party in 1996 and 2000. His
running mate was
Margaret Trowe, a
meat packer from
Austin,
Minnesota. James was on the
ballot in 14 states in 2000, up from 11 last election. He was also, to my knowledge, the only major (i.e. a chance in hell of becoming president)
black candidate.
James Harris was born in 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended Cleveland State University. He currently works as a garment worker, but is a long-time political activist.
