Nation which lives along the St. Lawrence River
on a number of territories. The Akwesasne live along the boundries between Quebec
and the New York State
They live according to The Mohawk Pledge, which reads: "I pledge allegiance to true Indianhood and will never allow the good name of our ancient forefathers to be trampled into the dust. We turn back five centuries for our examples and act accordingly to the uprightness displayed by our ancestors at that time. Let us honor and revere the memory of them by setting a good example." The Akwesasne continue in their artistic and commercial pursuits today.
