According to the
Warren Commission report, an alias used by alleged Presidential
assassin Lee Harvey Oswald to purchase the
Mannlicher-Carcano bolt-action
rifle used to kill
John F. Kennedy. The rifle was ordered through the mail from Klein's Sporting Goods of Chicago, Illinois. The ad for the rifle appeared in the February, 1963, issue of
American Rifleman magazine. The shipping address for the order read:
A. Hidell
PO Box 2915
Dallas, Texas
Oddly enough, Mr. Hidell does not appear to have purchased ammunition for the weapon. Nor did Mr. Oswald.
