Despite allegations that it was ripped off from Huey Lewis and the News' song I Want A New Drug, the Ghostbusters theme ended up scoring Ray Parker, Jr. a Grammy award in 1984 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance as well as settling him comfortably in the Platinum-selling #1 position for weeks until Stevie Wonder's I Just Called (To Say I Love You) toppled the Ghostbusters theme from the top of the charts and Parker's career into a slump from which it regrettably never recovered.
