Where I live (Quebec) there are three common nicknames for Radio Shack stores. Radio Scrap is the most popular because it works particularly well in both French and English. There's also Radio Shaft and Radio Shite. Other common Radio Shack brands have been nicknamed as well, like the Trash-80 instead of the TRS-80, a computer they sold under a Tandy brand back in the '80s. Also, if you do a search on Google for 'radio scrap' right now, the first listing that comes up is Radio Shack Canada. The Canadian Radio Shack company knows customers might search for this term and, although derogatory, why risk a customer going to a competitor?
