Abbreviation used in the United States Navy (and possibly others) to represent an aircraft carrier battle group. The CV is derived from the US carrier designation CV, and the BG from battle group. Usually consists of several ships, all supporting the aircraft carrier.

Carrier battle groups have been the mainstay of US naval power since World War II, when the Japanese sunk most of the battleships when they attacked Pearl Harbor. Today, US carrier battle groups can be found all over the world at any given time.
