The most common
cheat code in all the
history of
console gaming. Once the
player had enabled
infinite lives (AKA
unlimited lives), the player could
die as many times as they wanted and not have to worry about starting over. This was only really useful in the older console games that didn't have a
save feature.
Nowadays, it's pretty pointless.
Infinite lives wasn't always triggered by a game cheat code. It could also be
activated through methods such as
Game Genie,
Goldfinger,
Gameshark, and
Action Replay. It was, and still is, quite
popular.
