German Patent application number DE4020440 is for a product named the "Go-Matic", a device for the hygienic removal of dog excrement. It’s composed of a plastic tube with two open ends - one end is connected to a suction device, while the other is inserted in the dog's anus.

A wide funnel around the tube reduces any unpleasant “spattering”, and prevents the tube from being engulfed into the dog’s rectum.

The "Go-Matic" device was designed to prevent the soiling of parks and play areas, but it’s inventor claims that it has additional uses on human patients suffering from chronic constipation.

This is certainly one of the weirder patents ever awarded.
