In
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (
SMAC), the Command Nexus is a
Secret Project. It may be built at a cost of 180 minerals, on discovery of
Doctrine: Loyalty (C2). The Command Nexus provides a free
Command Center at each of your bases: +2 morale for all subsequently produced non-native units, and rapid unit repair in base squares. The Command Center base facility costs 36 minerals, so the Command Nexus is a bargain at only the cost of 5 Command Centers.
The Command Nexus is perhaps analogous to the U.S. Pentagon, although it would be quite a stretch to imagine that the completion of the Pentagon eliminated maintenance and new construction costs for military facilities throughout the U.S. Several Secret Projects further up the Alpha Centauri Tech Tree complement the Command Nexus, namely the Maritime Control Center, Cyborg Factory, and Nano Factory.
