Founded in July 1999, emode is one of many sites that offers
personality tests, otherwise known as "what to do online when your REALLY bored". I believe it all started with the infamous
purity test that circulated and grew through the
BBSs of old.
Emode itself has now got hundreds of such assessment tests. Some are specifically designed for fun, others are more scientific in nature (IQ tests etc), and has made a business out of doing it.
For better or worse, we can thank/curse emode for popularizing
the online test, which have now (2002) evolved into "What kind of x are you?" quickie tests.
