Silent Willie is the nickname of the statue of the original William of Orange (Prince of Orange and the father of the Dutch Republic), which sits in Voorhees Mall at Rutgers University. Although the name Silent Willie is derived from William being known as William the Silent, he is known as Silent Willie at Rutgers due to a local legend. It seems that Willie whistles whenever a female virgin walks by. He hasn't made in peep in decades.
