Holy day for
Wiccans and
Druids generally celebrated on February 1st or its
eve. One of the eight
Sabbats. It is also called Bride, Imblog, Imbolic or Candlemas though this latter designation is frowned upon by
neopagans it being the
Christian term for the same
day.
Bridget is the Irish Goddess of the forge and poetry. The first spark of springtime is thought to be ignited at this time of the year, and, thus, neopagans light candles to ritually invoke the return of spring.
