I was seriously considering
nuke-requesting this, but courtesy of
nuke requests aren't an alternative to node maintenance, you instead get an exercise in
node what you don't know.

PSL is an acronym for Premier Soccer League, the primary soccer organization in South Africa. The sixteen teams in the league are: the Kaizer Chiefs, the Sundowns of Johannesburg, the Santos of Cape Town, the Manning Rangers, the Hellenic of Goodwood, the African Wanderers of Durban, the Bush Bucks of Umtata, the Lamontville Golden Arrows, the Wits University, the Orlando Pirates, the Jomo Cosmos, the Moroka Swallows, the Ajax Cape Town, the Giyani? Dynamos, the Venda? Black Leopards, and the Supersport United. As a relic of apartheid, few of the teams have home stadiums; this, among other organizational snafus, has led to various financial and legal problems, including the shutting down of the official web page. The Chiefs and Pirates are still very popular though. The PSL is a club league begun in 1997.
- PSL is an acronym for Partidul Social-Liberal, a liberal political organization in Moldova. Bear with me here: My total knowledge comes from a Rumanian page babelfished into English from the French translation. The PSL was formed in May 2001 from the Liberal Social Initiative Group (GISL) and the League of Christian Democratic Women (LCDF). The PSL advocates a market economy, true democracy, and membership in the European Union.

PSL is also an acronym for Polskie Stronnicktwo Ludowe, variously tranlated as Polish Socialist Party, Polish Farmer's Union, Polish Folk Party, Polish Populist Party, Polish People's Party, and Polish Peasants' Party. It is descended from the Peasants' Party of the Communist period, and since 1993 has made up a ruling coalition with the SLD.

PSL is an acronym for Process Services Language, a universal language for communication between processes, being developed by NIST. "The goal of PSL is to create a process interchange language that is common to all manufacturing applications, generic enough to be decoupled from any given application, and robust enough to be able to represent the necessary process information for any given application." That is cut-and-pasted from ats.nist.gov/psl , because I have a limit of three buzzwords per sentence, and was therefore utterly unable to paraphrase.

PSL quite frequently is an acronym for physical science laboratory. One of the more prominent is at New Mexico State University. This PSL works primarily with designing and manufacturing precision scientific instrumentation, such as a compact muon solenoid (No, I don't know what that is, either).

PSL is an acronym for parallel strand lumber, a structural composite lumber (SCL) comparable to LVL. It is a proprietary product, manufactured by Trus Joist and sold under the brand name Parallam. Long strands of wood (Scots Pine or Douglas Fir, usually) are cut with the grain from a veneer, then glued parallel under pressure. PSL is a strong, predictable material, available in large sizes, and suitable for structural beams and joists. It has a grain and can be finished attractively and is often used when appearance is a factor in residential and commercial construction.

PSL is an acronym for Permanent Seat License, which I noticed that Recluse had already noded /after/ I sumbitted my changes. Oh well. Sorry. :) They're a method whereby professional sports teams mimic the practices of college teams for funding new stadiums. A sufficiently large contribution to the stadium fund gets the contributor both a memorial and a PSL, a right and obligation to buy season tickets at the new stadium in perpetuity. PSL s are disgustingly popular and generally sell out very quickly; because they can be transferred, they resell at many times the original sale value.

PSL is an acronym for perverse sexual lust. It originates in the webcomic It's Walky, where it was used about the ultra-innocent character Joyce, but it has since become ubiquitous among webcomic fans and artists. Those who are cool enough use PSL to refer to lust or sometimes merely admiration for a fictional character, usually but not always a cartoon character. By extension occasionally used to refer to lust for a person's online persona as opposed to the actual person.
