Everyone who knows vodka knows Stolichnaya.

This distinctly Russian drink was first introduced in 1901 being produced at the Moscow State Wine Warehouse No 1. It is produced using wheat and rye grains, and distilled 4 times.

Stolichnaya was an important product for the Soviet Union, where it was exported widely overseas not to mention used extensively by the Soviet people.

The brand is currently managed by Pernod Ricard which took control after the merger with Allied Domecq.

Many varieties exist, starting with the standard bottling strengths of 75 proof (Red Label), 80 proof (Gold Label), 100 proof (Blue Label) and a multitude of flavours.

The newest variety is Stolichnaya Elit which experiences an extra filtration cycle conducted below freezing to remove impurities.
