Very few people know how Jesse met Carly Martinez, but he took advantage of her constantly, using her university Internet account to get online and maintain his atrocious Geocities homepage. When that wasn't enough, he gruesomely killed her, completely shaking up much of the Las Cruces population. Thanks to inspectors reading her email account and some odd tidbits left on his homepage guestbook, they found him and he confessed, leading investigators to her charred and mutilated body.
In June 2000 Avalos was sentenced to life plus 62 years in jail. His accomplice got life plus 35 years.
