Also a (much better) song by Oasis. Don't Go Away was released on the band's 1997 album Be Here Now. At 4:48, it is actually one of the shorter songs on that album. It is an Oasis ballad, and sounds fairly typical of the Be Here Now era ballads. It appears as track 8 on that album.

The song was also released as a Japan-only single, for whatever reason. The tracks on that release:

  1. Don't Go Away
  2. Cigarettes & Alcohol (live from GMEX)
  3. Sad Song
  4. Fade Away (Warchild version)
Sad Song is an absolutely amazing acoustic song whose only other release was on the UK vinyl version of Definitely Maybe.

The track was penned by Noel Gallagher, and sung by Liam Gallagher, just like the vast majority of Oasis's tunes. Like many songs, I have a personal connection with this song, and it seems as if Noel just asked how I felt and wrote it. Which is good, because I can never find the words to say all the things caught in my mind.

The lyrics:

Cold and frosty morning there's not a lot to say
About the things caught in my mind
And as the day was dawning my plane flew away
With all the things caught in my mind

And I wanna be there when you're
Coming down.
And I wanna be there when you hit the ground.

So don't go away, say what you say
Say that you'll stay
Forever and a day
In the time of my life
Cos I need more time,
Yes I need more time, Just to make things right

Damn my situation and the games I have to play
With all the things caught in my mind
Damn my education I can't find the words to say
With all the things caught in my mind

Me and you, what's going on?
All we seem to know is how to show
The feelings that are wrong
