Things everyone should know about cars (idea)

Cars are the evil incarnate. Few people realize that, but consider:

• Acquisition Price: Cars are expensive, no matter what. If you buy them brand new, it's even worse. The mere act of removing a brand new car from the dealer will cost you no less than $3k. You wouldn't be able to sell it to your best friend for what you just paid.
• Mechanical failures: Ever wondered how they always break when you can't afford to fix it? It's always when you're in a hurry to go to the office or when you had to spend that extra cash in something else.
• Insurance Costs: What about paying all that money to the insurance companies? You don't have a life insurance, probably, but you won't be able to drive without car insurance.
• The car addicts: I have a friend that is absolutely addicted to his cars. He's totally broke, but has a really nice car. I told him to switch his addiction to cocaine or heroin. It's probably cheaper (and safer, giving the way he drives).
• Car Talk: Isn't it anti-social and annoying when two car geeks meet and start talking about turbos, clutches, flywheels et al? It's almost as annoying as people who talk all the time about computers or their workout at the gym.
• The purpose of a car is to move you from A to B safely and quickly but a lot of people don't realize that. They emphasize the 'car by the car itself' and forget its true purpose.
• Cars make some people believe they're better than others. Just because your car is newer/more expensive it doesn't mean you're a better person than another one.

I just have a car because I need one. I don't have a brand new car (and I don't think I'll ever have -- just a matter of personal choice). I keep it in good working order, avoiding a lot of the aforementioned problems. But since their evilness in unsurpassed by any other mechanical device I know of, I still get my quota of nasty surprises from time to time.
