Cream shortening and add sugar. Dissolve baking soda in molasses and add with vinegar to the shortening and sugar. Mix and sift flour, spices and salt, and add to first mixture. Roll out thin, cut with cookie cutter and bake on greased baking sheet in moderate oven (350°F) for 10 minutes.
