Sirsha-asana

Translation: yoga position meaning "the lion posture" or "the powerful one"

Instructions:

1. Kneel on the floor, sitting back on your calves with your feet flat on the floor.

2. Place your hands on your knees, keeping your arms straight. Keep your back erect and your head straight. (not tilted in any direction)

3. Inhale while leaning forward slightly, stretching the mouth and the jaw as wide as possible.

4. Hold the posture for the duration of the inhaled breath, then exhale while relaxing the stretch, closing your mouth and eyes.

Comments: The sirsha-asana is an imitation of a lion roaring. You may want to make sure you are completely alone to do this because it makes you look like a complete retard.

This position stretches the muscles in the face, and is a good morning exercise to help wake you up. It is known to cure sore throats. The face muscles and tissues are rejuvenated from the alternating stretching and release, an exercise uncommon to everyday life.
