A branch of
dendrochronology, used to aid the understanding of
geomorphological features.
Tree rings can be affected by events such as inclination, corrosion of bark, shear, burial, exposure, inundation, climate change and nudation: all of which may be the result of geological and environmental processes such as faulting, shoreline warping, volcanism, flooding, mass wasting, avalanching and glacial fluctuations.
