Apparent in films "C.H.U.D." and "C.H.U.D. II: Bud The C.H.U.D.", the acronym was thought to mean Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers. Later, however, it was revealed to mean Contaminated Hazardous Urban Disposal- a term invented by a corrupt beaurocrat who was dumping toxic waste in NYC sewers and various other underground passages.
