First Cut Is The Deepest It is a song written and performed by Cat Stevens. It first appeared in the 1967 Album "New Masters". Although, Cat Stevens wrote and sung it, Rod Stewart popularized it and brought it to number 1 in his 1976 album "A Night On the Town". Other artists who did covers of the song:
