Gavotte En Rondeau from the
Lute Suite no. 3 in G minor,
(
BMV 995) by
J. S. Bach.
Originally in G minor on the Lute, this piece is played
in A minor on the guitar. Each two character spaces
in the tab represents one tripleted quaver.
The notation underneath the tab for the strings indicates
the left-hand fingering. The top row is for the melody
notes (plucked with the fingers) the bottom row is for the
bass notes (plucked with the thumb) I've used '-'
to mark where there's an open string. Heretically, I've
marked where there's a barre underneath this fingering
notation, instead of above the tab, where it traditionally
goes (it just seems more logical to put it next to the
other fingering stuff.) As the right-hand fingering is
utterly straightforward, I haven't bothered with it.
In a couple of places, there are definite rests in the bass,
and I've used 'x' (placed on an aribtrary string) to indicate
this.
The piece is meant to be played at a pretty slow pace (think
'sonorous') but you can have fun speeding it up, which also
sounds ok.
The only hard parts are the left-hand stretches required in
a couple of places - other than that, it's pretty easy.
