A neighborhood in Philadelphia, PA located approximately a mile north of Center City. Roughly triangular in shape, Fishtown is bordered on the east by the Delaware river, and loosely contained by Frankford avenue to the southwest and York street to the north.

Home to mostly white, working-class residents, Fishtown is slowly gentrifying, especially near the Girard avenue corridor.

Legend has it that none other than Charles Dickens coined the name Fishtown after observing the fish markets that were originally located in the area. Apparently, during a tour of Philadelphia, Dickens theatrically sniffed the air and quipped "Oh, this place must be fishtown." That such a luminary as Charles Dickens should deign to notice them so gratified the locals that they promptly dubbed themselves Fishtowners!
