D-Glucurono-gamma-Lactone

A carbohydrate naturally produced by the human metabolic system. It is formed in the liver from the metabolisation of glucose. Glucuronic acid is also an important constituent of fibrous and connective tissues in all animals. Furthermore, glucuronolactone has been used in of typhoid patients because of its ability to inhibit viral and bacterial beta-glucuronidase.

Studies have shown that when orally administered to rats, it had no effect on fluid intake, bodyweight, time of death, or cause of death.

Often found as an ingredient in energy drinks, including the popular Red Bull. Marketers of the substance often state claims of its ability in aiding the removal of toxins from the body, though there is no scientific evidence to back this up.
