The Health Professions Council or HPC is the new regulatory body which has been set-up in the United Kingdom to regulate the following twelve health professions:

(Or basically everyone apart from doctors and nurses who have their own separate regulatory arrangements.)

It came into being on the 1 April 2002 replacing the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine which had previously fulfilled the exact same role. The reason for the change seems to be the intention that the HPC will cheaper to run and have greater representation from patients and the public.
