The Association of Teachers and Lecturers or ATL is a British trades union and professional association representing some 160,000 teachers, lecturers and education support staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It was created in 1978 as the Assistant Masters and Mistresses Association, itself a merger of the Association of Assistant Mistresses or AAM originally formed in 1884 and the Association of Assistant Masters in Secondary Schools or AMA formed in 1891, who by and large represented teachers in secondary education.

It adopted the more modern title of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers in 1993.
