To summarise; the land requires a hero to restore order in the spiritual world. The old people are dwindling, the old songs and stories are being lost and chaos threatens. Wirrun is chosen, and the books are as much about his own self discovery and integration into his ancient culture and the interactions amongst the different peoples of the land as they are a fantasy adventure alive with mythical beings.
minor rave... because I cannot say enough how much I loved these books
The mythology is well researched and beautifully written, the stories deceptively simple, yet the ideas stay with you for years afterwards.
How come grown ups books never seem to be this cool?
