Weezer-ish sound a la japonaise. NUMBER GIRL-ish Vibration. Emotional Sense and Literary Rock The hope and destructive impulse lie among the desperation possesses both positivity and negativity. Gasping for something to grasp, but the hand reaches to nothing. Their music is the pure form of the combination of such painfully unbearable emotion and the explosive cry as one. Everyone's eyes are set on these guys, as they perform energetically songs that guarantee your 100% excitement!

Well, that's how they describe themselves.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation is a Japanese rock band with 4 members.

  • Kensuke KITA - Guitar/Vocals
  • Masafumi GOTOU - Vocals/Guitar
  • Takahiro YAMADA - Bass/vocals
  • Kiyoshi ICHIJI- Drums (thanks izubachi for correction)

Anyhow, their style is pretty unique. There is little belting and a dearth of obnoxious guitar riffs. Overall, for rock, it's pretty demure. It also emphasizes the lyrics over the instruments. They are clearly supplements to the vocals, not the other way around. If you can get your hands on the stuff, it's worth checking out. Masafumi GOTOU writes the vast majority of the lyrics (a singer writing his own music is rather rare in popular music these days). Although their songs released independently were mostly in English, their more recent commercial releases are in Japanese. Here's a discography current as of 21 June 2004.
