1985 Western directed by
Lawrence Kasden, the
director of
The Big Chill,
Grand Canyon and
Wyatt Earp and writer of
Raiders of the Lost Ark. The movie starred
Kevin Kline,
Scott Glenn,
Danny Glover,
Kevin Costner,
Brian Dennehy, and
Jeff Goldblum.
The movie tells the story of four men heading to a town called Silverado. Once there, all four confront their pasts while defending the town against unscrupulous men.
The movie marks the first starring role for Costner and includes a small part by John Cleese of Monty Python as the sheriff of a small town.
An excellent movie and well worth the effort to see. Kasden is in his element with a large cast and expertly weaves the story lines to make a wonderful movie. One of my family's 'repeat viewing" movies; it never gets old.
