Fred Basset is a comic strip created by Alex Graham a Scottish cartoonist (who is also credited with originating the popular science fiction cliche and catchphrase "Take me to your leader"). The comic strip made it's debut in Britain's Daily Mail in 1963 and has since been syndicated all over the world. It follows the daily life of the titiular character, a dog and his owners. Fred's thoughts are shown via speech balloons, like Garfield or Snoopy. The comic strip is known for being both slice of life, rarely topical, and easy to understand. Though, Graham died in 1991, many of his "stockpiled" strips, are still being published to this very day.
