The black British MP Diane Abbott once complained that in her constituency too many nurses were being hired from overseas, and that they therefore didn't understand the special needs of the community. She ridiculed the idea of importing nurses from Finland, and thought they should use black people to tend to black people.

The logical flaw in this is the assumption that Finns cannot be black.

Unbeknownst to Diane Abbott, there are black Finns. They included

  1. a nurse in her own constituency;
  2. an executive member of Britain's Anti-Racist Alliance;
  3. the then Miss Finland.

That last is of course the lovely Lola Odusoga, who (going on one photograph) combines the best of both worlds.
