In the Cryptonomicon, Neal Stephenson uses Titanomachia as a term for a radical intellectual or social rebuilding of society. Since a great deal of the book is about mathematics, Stephenson phrases the 20th century rebuilding of mathematics from propositional logic (of which, not knowing much about the history of mathematics, I know very little). Stephenson also wraps this theory into a general theory of the need for some "progressive" societies to overthrow the moribund traditions of the past. However, these theories are unfortunately tied up with some rather uninformed cultural stereotyping that Mr. Stephenson does.
A rather interesting idea, and one that everyone who is stuck in a situation with decrepit gods should definitely consider.
