Ernie (Jim Henson 1969-1989, Steve Whitmire 1989-) is a muppet from Sesame Street. He lives in a basement apartment of 1-2-3 Sesame with Bert, who is like a brother to Ernie. Ernie loves his rubber duckie and is always tricking Bert. Ernie and Bert were originally planned to be like parent/child but because Ernie (the child-like one) always tricked Bert they decided to just make them best friends.
He has a niece named Ernistine.
