Peepers are the first young frogs of spring. On a warm evening like tonight, they create quite a chorus of peeps around a country pond, each with its own pitch and particular timbre. Some of them roll their R's. The Peepers seem to take turns starring in the show. That is to say, there is one frog who sings loudest, and who finishes last and starts first, as the chorus builds and dissipates gradually again and again.
