Second Rhapsody is a piece of music by American composer George Gershwin, written in 1932.

Gershwin wrote Second Rhapsody as a kind of sequel to his earlier Rhapsody in Blue, which had become immensely popular after it was originally performed in 1924. Despite its public success, however, it was frequently criticized by other musicians and critics for technical reasons. Somewhat stung by their response, Gershwin eventually wrote Second Rhapsody, and succeeded in demonstrating his genius as a composer. Sadly, it never matched the popularity of his first rhapsody due to the fact that, although Gershwin did demonstrate his remarkable proficiency, the piece is simply not as much fun to play or listen to as Rhapsody in Blue.
