The Black Country is an area of the West Midlands in England. It includes such towns as Stourbridge, Dudley, Lye, Brierly Hill and Wolverhampton.
This area used to have a lot of heavy industry (such as steel works and coal mines) which is where it got its name. Most of this has closed down now, the site of the largest steel works is now home to one of the country's largest shopping centres Merry Hill.

The Black Country accent is supposed to be one of the country's most indecipherable dialects, it's similar to the Brummie accent but much faster and with far too many contractions.
