The Roman equivalent of a fast-food restaurant. Yes, the Romans had fast-food before the modern era. Food and drink would be cooked beforehand and kept in large pots, from which they would be served to the customers. A common dish (or acutally, the lack thereof, as dishes weren't even used) was a beef patty that had spices rubbed into it and was then grilled. It would then be placed between two slices of bread (sliced bread isn't an invention, you know) so that it would be easily portable. Seems somewhat like a hamburger, wouldn't you say?

All sorts of crap had already been invented before said crap emerged in modern society. Keep in mind that the Romans had public lavvys too. They also used a sponge on a stick instead of toilet paper, but that's another story...
