Martin Hannett was arguably one of the greatest and most influential record producers of all time.

Most famous for his work with Joy Division (and New Order), he also produced luminaries such as Happy Mondays, the Buzzcocks, Durutti Column, The Stone Roses, U2 and Nico.

He pretty much single-handedly defined the "Factory sound" (which is basically a creative use of keyboards and very metallic sounding percussion) by way of producing most of the bands on the label in the late 70s-early 80s.

Died in 1991.
